John Gregory-Smith shares over 60 recipes that are big on taste yet simple to whip up, all featuring his signature Middle Eastern twist. He is on social media, dancing and jumping around like a small child (his words) if he likes the taste of something. Furthermore, Gregory-Smith's recipes for chocolate and tahini rocky road, sticky honey peaches and his lighter version of a Persian love cake, made from almonds, semolina, cardamom and rosewater, would sit happily on any summer menu, be that lunch, dinner or even a casual evening cooking for friends on that rare day off in the sunshine.

Low and Slow are quick to prepare and generally cook over many hours, though some are ready in under 1 hour. The book has 6 chapters including everyday food, entertaining, comfort food, slow cooking, home lunches and desserts. Contents look good, but apparently no one proof reads or checks quality before releasing these things !

It provides a list of stable ingredients to have in the cupboard and combinations to aid you in dinner party planning. One of the recipes has a tip for defrosting to make the sauce creamy but nowhere did it say the dish could be frozen so I was a little confused. So, whether you're after killer comfort food, a banging brunch or dinner in front of the TV, look no further. In Fast Feasts, John Gregory-Smith puts flavour firmly back into the kitchen with a selection of quick and easy recipes, all featuring his signature Middle Eastern twist, which will make you feel excited about cooking again. I was unaware of his blog when I bought his cookbook and perhaps I will find additional recipes there.

It will tease out many contemporary and controversial issues – such as the origins of food and food security, over consumption in times of austerity, and our relationship with animals and nature – thereby linking the past with our present, and encouraging visitors to question and rethink our relationship with food.We have noticed you are using an adblocker and – although we support freedom of choice – we would like to ask you to enable ads on our site. I was so happy to see the most delicious, quick, easy recipes in this book - another absolute winner by JGS who never disappoints and is by far and away my fave Chef these days. We tried the chicken shawarma tonight, absolutely delicious- my 6 year old gave it 10/9, and I did an unintentional JGS signature dance upon tasting!

I have made countless recipes that he’s shared so I’m absolutely delighted to now have a book full of wonderful new ones to try!
