When I first heard the energy of this new band's music, and the irresistible vocals of Alex Turner, I was drawn to it immediately. The album became the UK's fastest selling debut album, selling more than 360,000 copies in its first week in 2006. Experience the iconic sound of Arctic Monkeys' debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, through the warm and immersive quality of vinyl.

Don't compare it to the best bands of all time, compare it to the current crop of what's out there - these guys absolutely blow away Hard-Fi, the Rakes, the Editors, Maximo Park, We Are Scientists, Kaiser Chiefs, etc etc. The album features the singles 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' and 'When the Sun Goes Down'. A lot of my friends and I used to go out having blared this through our hi-fi's at uni when it came out and it always set us up for a good night out.stars out of 5 — “Fashion and hype be damned — this is thrilling, incontrovertible evidence of a major new talent in our midst.

The songs range from the good to the excellent, my favourites will always be the number one hit singles: 'When the Sun Goes Down'(I just love the melody at the beginning of it) and the throbbing indie anthem 'I Bet you Look Good on the Dancefloor', but all of the album only tracks benefit from consistent catchy guitar riffs and strong vocals. As for the band now, they are back with an outstanding new album AM , which might be their best yet. hence the razor-sharp lyricism that fuels songs like a certain romance, a witty observation of small-town life where theres only music so that theres new ringtones and where going out could sometimes mean having a pool cue wrapped around your head. No matter where you are in your life, this album will always make sense and resonate, and that is Arctic Monkeys’ true achievement. Two years later we made the move to our present address, 35 The Headrow, where we have remained ever since. I understand the Oasis one a little better, as they are a more recent band, and Whatever People Say I am, Thats What I am Not has a similar quality to the first two Oasis albums, in that its hard to believe a band can burst onto the scene already sounding this polished and this distinct, and drop an album that is so solid front to back.

Released in 2006, the Arctic Monkeys' debut album was fairly typical of the 'good' (in my opinion) music that was in the charts at the time. The first album from Sheffield-based rockers, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not was the fastest selling debut album in UK chart history. Released in 2006, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not is the debut album by English indie rock band Arctic Monkeys. Yeah, is a surreal, funky, profane, and perversely joyous album, overflowing with casual eclecticism and giddy humour. There really was no doubt that in this modern punk and hip-hop inspired vignette of reality bites, and Northern colloquialisms, the Monkeys had defined the zeitgeist. Those demos built the band a rabid fan base before the Monkeys had released a record, even before they played more than a handful of gigs. We also specialise in Limited Edition coloured vinyl so if that’s your thing you have come to the right place.
