About this deal

You can hear The Kinks, you can sense The Smiths and a love of the 60s but most of all you can hear The Arctic Monkeys. I’m very curious though if anyone has the 2011 red double blood sugar vinyl and the 2022 that you sent a link too. I like the old CD, it has good dynamics too, but it lacks bass and it's too trebly, so I'd always use equilizer.

This is the first Chili Peppers album I bought back in about 1993 and it's always been my favourite. Produced by Rick Rubin, its musical style differed notably from the techniques employed on the band's previous album Mother's Milk (1989), and featured minimal use of heavy metal guitar riffs. It briefly comes alive on side 3 for Naked in the Rain and also the guitar intro to Funky Monks but it's not as good as it should have been.I have the US pressing and it’s one of those records that’s always kind of startled me with its amazing sound quality. Yeah, is a surreal, funky, profane, and perversely joyous album, overflowing with casual eclecticism and giddy humour. I would recommend this to every music lover in general, it's one of the albums you need to hear before you die. The album is recognized as an influential and seminal component of the alternative rock explosion of the early 1990s.

The first pressing on my system seems to be the more natural sounding of the two overall but I love both and will keep them in my collection. In 2012 a 180g vinyl pressing, based on the previous year's remastering, was released in the US in red inner sleeves with photos and lyrics [468348-1; 1-528928]. The promo has a bit more bass, which, in my opinion, makes Under the Bridge and I Could Have Lied a little TOO bassy. An exception was the Brazilian version with black inner sleeves and black and white band photos [Warner 675. My original CD has been with me through my college days, and along with Mother's Milk, remains my favourite era of the Chili's.Riding Flea's surging bass, Anthony Kiedis delivers his explicit lyrics with a rapper's flair, extolling the virtues (and outlining the dangers) of sex and drugs. On the downside they have any cuss words removed (like someone turning the station on an AM radio in outer space) and is a bit distracting but not tooooo bad. Blood Sugar Sex Magik is the fifth studio album by Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on September 24, 1991.
