About this deal

Cllr Lorraine Beardmore, cabinet member for culture, leisure and public health said: “I am thrilled that the city council has been able to work with the team at DadPad to launch this fantastic free app in Stoke-on-Trent. Developed with the NHS and real-life dads, the DadPad gives new dads and dads-to-be the knowledge and practical skills necessary to be able to support themselves and their partner, and give their baby the best start in life. Building a strong attachment will not only enable dads to better enjoy their new role but also contribute towards positive long-term social, health and educational outcomes for their babies. The Dadpad® gives dads-to-be the knowledge and practical skills necessary to support themselves and their partner, so that babies get the best possible start in life.

We’re also pleased to share that a co-parent pad has been developed to achieve fill inclusivity and offers a bespoke resource for the LGBTQIA+ community which we’re really excited about as well. It also provides guidance on how to support and seek help for your partner and yourself as you adjust to your new roles. Stoke-on-Trent City Council has worked with the NHS Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust and DadPad to launch the easy-to-use, freely downloadable resource for new dads and dads-to-be. The DadPad gives support to new fathers who can often feel left out and unable to help when they’re needed most, and this can put a strain on both parents. The DadPad app is an evidence based app accessible to all fathers living in Solihull and is FREE of charge. For this reason, the app also provides information on key behavioural changes for dad to look out for in both himself and his partner. Functional Cookies are enabled by default at all times so that we can save your preferences for cookie settings and ensure site works and delivers best experience. Rowena added: 'Alongside the DadPad app there is a hard copy DadPad Neonatal book that will support dads when their baby is admitted, planned or unplanned, to the neonatal unit. Your local maternity services have partnered up with DadPad to provide free access to the tailored app for Dads in Kent and Medway.

As new UK NHS Trusts or relevant Health Authorities adopt the DadPad® App, more locations will appear, as will new up-to-date information and features such as explanatory animations and videos. This easy-to-use resource for new dads and dads-to-be will give you the practical skills and knowledge you need to create a special bond with your baby and give them the best start in life. Developed with the NHS, DadPad gives new dads and dads-to-be the knowledge and skills needed to gain confidence and give their baby the best start in life. Please include what you were doing when this page occurred and the event ID found at the bottom of the page. All texts will be responded to by a public health nurse (health visitor/school nurse) within 24 hours. Although we hope that this DadPad will help you and your family with some of the questions and problems that may arise over the coming weeks, always remember that, if you're unsure about anything to do with your baby’s health, you should contact your midwife, health visitor or GP. Being a parent of a child in neonatal care can come with a lot of other emotions and problems to deal with, and DadPad Neonatal can offer additional help and support.
