About this deal

As a gin fanatic, it’s a pleasure to sit and taste a brand’s range side-by-side – and Height of Arrows is no exception.

Taking inspiration from the brewing heritage of Scotland’s capital, the distillery base all their spirits around their ‘whisky mindset’. In doing so the flavour profile, distinctive texture and mouth feel of Height of Arrows is evocative of a whisky drinking experience, which will appeal to more discerning audiences as well as the current crop of gin drinkers. To be eligible for a full refund you must contact us to inform us of any issue within 24 hours of receipt. Either the day before or morning of the distillation, the three botanicals are added to the pot and macerated in 60% GNS. Holyrood was established within a 180-year-old-building that was formerly the goods shed for St Leonard’s railway station.

I’ve judged at international spirits competitions and I can truthfully say this is by far and away one of the BEST gins I’ve ever tasted. The cookie is used to calculate visitor, session, campaign data and keep track of site usage for the site's analytics report. Not so much the flavours of whisky, but rather that whisky manages to show off a huge variety of flavours while only being made with a handful of ingredients. From the Holyrood Distillery, near to Arthur’s Seat, comes a gin that takes its inspiration from that famous volcano. We have not served proper alcohol at a party in some time with obvious concerns about drivers and nobody taking risks with their lives and licences, however we were careful not to put anyone in a difficult or compromising position in this regard.

And in 2021 Holyrood Distillery launched Height of Arrows Gin, mirroring the simplicity of whisky and just three ingredients – juniper, beeswax and sea salt. We couldn’t help but conclude that this is a better gin for making cocktails because it can cut through the other ingredients. In the event of any safety concerns or for any other information about a product please carefully read any instructions provided on the label or packaging and contact the manufacturer. Bright uses triple the amount of juniper, beeswax and sea salt as the original Height of Arrows Gin, which makes for a hugely flavoursome, bright gin. As this varies dependent on the location of the wines and ultimate destination this will be quoted to you at the point of billing for VAT and duty.

It is the brainchild of Canadians Rob and Kelly Carpenter along with whisky industry veteran David Robertson. Juniper is still undoubtedly the star of the show, but as you add more tonic, it opens up those zesty notes of lemon peel and grapefruit. Much like roasting spices before cooking a curry, roasitng the juniper releases the heavy oils within the juniper to create a deep, bold and earthy style of Height of Arrows. CLEAN AND VIBRANT GIN DEALS - Height of Arrows packs an abundance of flavour, with notes of fresh pine, zingy citrus, and balanced spice.

The sole botanical is distilled with salt and beeswax to help extract a broad spectrum of flavours from the tasty juniper berry. To create Bright we use over three times the amount of juniper we use in our first expression of Height of Arrows. A classic cocktail that allows you to fully appreciate Height of Arrow’s texture and complex flavours. Height of Arrows is made using just three ingredients - juniper, Isle of Skye sea salt and natural beeswax. This gin is produced by the Holyrood Whisky distillery in Edinburgh to the same exacting standards as their whisky. The florals on the nose carry through to the palate, with herbaceous notes on the finish and an enduring spice. Throughout the gin boom, I’ve observed brands trying to stand out by using unusual botanicals or creating flavoured expressions.

Old Tom gins were sweetened, and we have used this style to round out the deep bold flavours created with roasting the juniper. Made just down the road, the Height of Arrows gin from Holyrood distillery strips gin to its core, celebrating the flavour and complexity of juniper. Taste: Initially oily and mouth coating with juicy and rich orange zest and lemon pith, black pepper and cardamom. In creating Height of Arrows we sought to create a gin that followed the same principle of utilising a few ingredients and elevated them to achieve an abundance of flavour. PALATE Initially oily and mouth coating with juicy and rich orange zest and lemon pith then a bold emergence of black pepper and cardamom, tempered with tapered herbaceous smoothness. They believe in stripping back gin to its core essential, juniper, and only focusing on a select few botanicals.
