About this deal

I heard a review of the Kiwi Ears Cadenza (which is built almost identical) and the reviewer was proclaiming that it isn’t anything special….

However, I think that KBear was actually very successful in producing an earphone that does what it was supposed to do. So this is not a technical set for critical listening or analytical listening, but more for sitting back to chill and enjoy the music. Recent reviewsVery recently I reviewed the KBear Ink MK2 ( Ink 2 Review HERE) and I was pleasantly surprised.Above the splitter cables are twisted pairs and terminate with pre-formed earhooks without memory wire and . Sensitive” by Meghan Trainor on the other hand shows how that pinna gain in the upper midrange might cause a bit of glare as well. You could make an argument that the KB01 has a slightly more fun sound, if by “fun” you mean “a hair bassier”. Listening to “ Groove” by Ray Wylie Hubbard as I always use this track to test the pitch, tone and haptic of the lowest of lows for review purposes.

I hear a sonorous rumble that does well to bolster the low-end with certain genres which cater to a deeper sub-bass. Everything I Didn’t Say” by Ella Henderson begins with her vocals out front and center and her voice should slightly resonate more forward in the sound field. In general, there isn’t much to a critic here but just some slight bass bleed but checks most boxes for a budget IEM contender.I detected quite a bit of sibilance across the tracks I listened to which isn’t pleasant and felt that it was quite a wasted opportunity for the LARK to be a contender on all fronts. The bass is the most prominent on this one, vivacious, hard hitting and boomy that really smears across the midrange. You might be (or not) interested to know that the cable is made from high-quality OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) copper cable. I’ve actually reviewed quite a few ultra-budget sets of late and was pleased to be asked to check out the Storm. The sub-bass is improved over the KS2 stable-mate with a bit faster attack and decay and improved detail as a result.

Technicalities SoundstageThe stage size of the KBear KB01 feels average to slightly above average all the way around. Conclusion To conclude my full written review of KBear’s latest budget iem I have to say that this set is a great sign for the storied Chi-fi brand. I Walk Alone” by Chase Rice off his newest album, his voice does come across rather clean, but his voice is also pushed back in the field of music as there is a missing energy and fullness that I like to hear. KBEAR says that they combined a 10mm composite diaphragm dynamic driver and balanced armature driver to create KS2.
