I like this book because it introduces children to a variety of fruits and therefore it can be used to enhance their vocabulary. Oliver only eats chips… until Mum finds a way to introduce all the tasty possibilities of fresh fruit. When he goes home he asks his mum to prepare a dish of these fruits, but he refuses to eat them because they are not grown in the back garden as it was in his grandparent’s house. However, when Oliver’s grandparents visit his house, Oliver with the help of all of the adults make a fruit salad. She has won many awards for her books, and is regularly invited to festivals including Cheltenham and the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
